The reconstruction of deltaic and coastal systems evolution is mainly focused on distinct deltaic lobes, sectors of lower Danube floodplain, hydrological network, beach ridge plains or barrier islands development, but also the puzzle pieces are planed to compound the holistic picture of Danube delta Holocene evolution or the Lower Danube floodplain development. This kind of studies dealing with large-scale landscape evolution are grounded on detailed chronostratigraphic, sedimentologic, geochemical, palynological and paleontological analyses requiring an interdisciplinary approach.
